Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser decodes each picture, re-encodes it and assembles the PDF, all locally. The site’s security policy sets connect-src ‘none’, so the browser blocks network requests from these pages, meaning a photo could not be sent even if the code tried.
Why is there a quality setting at all?
Because a PDF stores the picture, not a link to it, so the file is roughly the sum of the images inside it. A phone photograph at full quality is several megabytes; at 80 it is usually under one and looks the same on screen. The slider changes the number under the preview as you move it, so you can stop where it still looks right.
What does ‘Fit to image’ do?
It makes each page exactly the size of the picture on it, so there is no white border. That is usually what you want for screenshots and receipts. Choose A4 or Letter instead when the pages are going to be printed, or when they have to match other documents.
Can I put the pages in a different order?
Yes. The list under the drop area is the order of the pages, and each row can be moved up or down or removed. What you see in the list is what comes out.
Why does a PNG come out as a JPEG inside the PDF?
Because that is what keeps the file small. PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly, which is right for a diagram and very expensive for a photograph. If the sharpness matters more than the size, put the quality slider at 100.
